Terminologies of Hacking?! (Part 1)

Terminologies

The following is a list of important terms used in the hacking field.

1. Adware

      Adware is software designed to display preselected advertisements on the system.

2. Attack

     An attack is an operation of completing access and extracting confidential data on the system.

3. Back Door

      Backdoor or trapdoor is a hidden entry that bypasses computing device or software security measures (login, password protection, etc).

4. Bot

      A bot is a program that automatically performs an action so that it can perform a longer operation at a higher speed than a human operator. For example, you can send an HTTP, FTP or Telnet at high speed or create a fast object by calling a script.

5. Botnet

      Botnet, also known as a zombie army, is a group of computers with no knowledge of owners. Botnets are used to send spam and denial of service attacks.

6. Brute Force Attack

      Brute force attacks are the easiest and most automated way to access systems and websites. Try another user name and password combination repeatedly until you enter it.

7. Buffer Overflow

      A buffer overflow is a defect, and as more data is written to a memory block or buffer, that buffer is allocated to hold.

8. Clone Phishing

      Network fraud cloning is to deceive recipients to modify existing legal e-mails, including fake links, to provide personal information.
