What is footprinting?!! Quick Fix tip... (Part 1)

Footprints are part of the reconnaissance process and are used to collect possible information about target computer systems or networks. The footprint can be passive and active. Reviewing the company's website is an example of a passive footprint, trying to acquire confidential information through social engineering is an example of collecting activity information.

Footprints are basically the first step in finding ways a hacker gathers as much information as possible and intruding into the target system, or at least determines which type of target is appropriate for the attack. At this stage, hackers can collect the following information

  • Domain name
  • IP Addresses
  • Namespaces
  • Employee information
  • Phone numbers
  • E-mails
  • Job Information
The next section describes how to extract basic and easy access to information about computer systems and networks connected to the Internet.
