What is DDoS attack?!!

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are attempts to disable online services or websites by overloading large amounts of traffic from multiple sources. Unlike Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, DDoS attacks use one computer and internet connection to flood target resources. Large capacity DDoS attacks generate tens of gigabits (or hundreds of gigabits) of traffic per second. We believe that your regular network can not handle such traffic.

What are Botnets?

Attackers will build hacker machine networks called botnets by spreading malicious code through e-mails, websites, and social media. Once these computers are infected, they can be controlled remotely without knowledge of the owner and attack the military-like target.
A DDoS flood can be generated in multiple ways. For example

  • Botnets can be used for sending more number of connection requests than a server can handle at a time.
  • Attackers can have computers send a victim resource huge amounts of random data to use up the target's bandwidth.

Because these machines are distributed, they can be used to generate distributed high traffic. This may be difficult to process. Eventually leads to complete blockage of service.

I'll explain on types of DDoS attacks. So wait for my next post. Till then good bye. Do follow me on Facebook Click Here :)
